Dentures and Partials
A complete smile makes it possible to eat a wide variety of foods to stay healthy so you can have confidence in your appearance. When tooth loss occurs, finding a suitable solution to restore function presents many choices.
At our Long Island City dental office, we work with our local technician to offer dental implants, fixed bridges, partial removable dentures, and complete dentures.
Dr. Ian Mapes believes that having choices when deciding on dentistry is important.
Dentures and Partial Dentures
Dentures and partial dentures remain a popular choice and have been solving the problem of missing teeth for centuries. Of course, we are grateful for the advancements that modern dentistry has made. Today’s dentures look more natural and provide a better fit than dentures worn by our parents or grandparents.
We take great care when planning dentures for an ideal outcome.
- Impressions for models of teeth
- Bone evaluation
- Jaw and bite analysis
- Appearance and design
We invite patients to become part of the process so that their new dentures are something they feel proud of.
When patients are facing extractions, one of their main concerns is how long they must go without teeth. Immediate dentures mean you walk out with your dentures the same day as surgery. Since your body will be healing, we will need to take a few extra steps.
- Pre-planning for dentures before your surgery
- Denture delivery on the day of extractions
- Regular follow-ups to adjust the fit
- Planning and designing final dentures
Immediate dentures are a temporary solution to wear until your mouth heals completely. They are a great way to acclimate to denture wear before we create final dentures.
Complete (Full) Dentures
Complete dentures replace all of the teeth on the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both. They are available in both conventional and implant-retained options, depending on your goals for your smile.
Conventional dentures rely on the bony structure beneath the gums to stay in place securely.
Implant-retained dentures lock into place with either a ball or bar mechanism. Dentures stay secure until you release them for cleaning or inspection.
Whether you opt for implant dentures or conventional dentures, we design them with you in mind. Dentures are no longer generic looking and boxy. We match denture teeth with your smile and facial structure for a natural result. You can even choose the color of your new smile.
Partial Dentures to Complete the Smile
When some natural teeth remain, they can secure partial dentures in place with small clasps. Partial dentures restore the chewing surface and complement your natural teeth. We will match them closely, so your smile looks seamless.
Partial denture base alternatives:
- Sturdy metal
- Lightweight acrylic
- Flexible (non-metal) options
Whether you have one missing tooth or many, our supportive and solution-focused dentists will discuss each option and their benefits so you can make a choice that makes sense for you.
